🍂 Decluttering Made Simple: The Moving Out Method

YT 123 Moving Out

If you’ve ever stood in front of a wardrobe, cupboard, or even that dreaded “junk drawer” and thought, where do I even start? — you’re not alone.

Decluttering can feel overwhelming. The guilt about wasted money, the memories attached to objects, or just the sheer volume of stuff can stop us in our tracks. But I want to share with you a method that has made decluttering so much easier for me and my clients: The Moving Out Method.

Why September is the Perfect Time to Declutter

Nature gives us clues. Every September, the trees let go of their leaves. 🍂 It’s a reminder that letting go is natural, beautiful, and necessary for growth.

Just like the trees, we go through cycles. Autumn is the perfect season to slow down, reflect, and create space — in your home and in your life.

The Benefits of Decluttering

Decluttering isn’t just about creating a tidy home — it’s about creating a calm mind and a lighter spirit.

Here’s what I’ve noticed:
✨ It soothes my nerves — a clear space really does equal a clear mind.
✨ It saves time and energy — no more wasting minutes hunting for things.
✨ It creates a sense of control — even small wins like organising one drawer can feel amazing.

And if you’re in recovery after cancer, like so many of the women I work with, creating this kind of nurturing environment can be especially powerful. It’s about making space for the new you.

The Moving Out Method

Here’s the trick: declutter as if you were moving into your dream home tomorrow.

👉 Would you really pay someone to pack, move, and unpack that chipped mug, that dress you haven’t worn in 10 years, or that drawer full of tangled cables?

If the answer is no — let it go.

Step 1: Do a room-by-room audit. Stand in each space with fresh eyes.
Step 2: Ask: Would I pack this if I moved tomorrow?
Step 3: Sort into keep, donate, or release.

This method stops procrastination and gives you instant clarity. It’s not about being ruthless for the sake of it. It’s about curating a home and life that supports who you are becoming, not who you used to be.
