🎵 If I Could Turn Back Time? No Thanks — I’m Moving Forward

Gabby June 25 5

We’ve all sung along to Cher’s legendary song “If I Could Turn Back Time.”
Hairbrush in hand, belting it out like we’re on stage. (or is that just me?)

But here’s the thing… I used to wish I really could.

After cancer, I wanted so badly to go back — back to “normal,” back to the woman I was before treatment, back to a life untouched by fear.

Now I know — that’s the wrong goal.

Because you can’t heal by going backwards.
Healing after cancer means moving forward — towards the woman you were always meant to become.

The Myth of “Getting Back to Normal”

When my treatment ended, everyone said the same thing:
“You can finally relax now.”

But I couldn’t.
Because when you’ve lived in survival mode for months — or years — peace can feel almost uncomfortable.

I didn’t know how to stop bracing for bad news.
I didn’t know how to feel safe in my own body.

So I tried to “get back to normal.”
Back to my routines. Back to my pace. Back to my old expectations.

But it didn’t fit anymore — because I didn’t fit anymore.

And one day, it hit me:
I wasn’t supposed to go back.
I was supposed to grow forward.

Cancer Changes Everything — But It Also Reveals Who You Truly Are

Cancer doesn’t just change your body. It transforms your soul.

It burns away what’s fake, what’s forced, and what no longer serves you.
It makes you see what truly matters — and who you really are beneath the fear.

The woman I was before cancer hadn’t met her own power yet.
She hadn’t learned that peace isn’t something you find — it’s something you build.
She didn’t yet know that strength doesn’t always look like fighting — sometimes it looks like resting, choosing, saying no.

Now?

đź’« I walk slower, but stronger.
đź’« I say no without guilt.
💫 I choose myself — without apology.
💫 I don’t live just to be grateful — I live to be fully alive.

That’s what true healing after cancer looks like.

You Don’t Need to Turn Back Time — You Need to Own Your Now

I don’t want to turn back time anymore.
I want to use my time — wisely, joyfully, intentionally.

Because this second chance isn’t about returning to who I was.
It’s about becoming Powerfully You™.

The life I’m building now fits me — the real me.
Not the version that worked too much, said yes too often, or pushed through exhaustion.
The me that knows my worth, guards my peace, and chooses what lights me up.

That’s the real victory after cancer.

If You’re Longing to Feel Like “You” Again

Lovely, if you’re reading this and nodding along, thinking, “Yes, that’s me”…
You’re not alone.

You don’t have to chase the past.
You just have to create your next chapter.

Because life after cancer isn’t about turning back time.
It’s about making this time — your precious second chance — bold, beautiful, and truly yours.
