Why Is Showing Gratitude Important?
I believe that you cannot be fearful and grateful simultaneously. Gratitude is the antidote to fear.
As a breast cancer survivor, I don’t want to live in fear every day, When my treatment ended, for a long time I lived in fear or a recurrence. I had Inflammatory Breast Cancer, very rare and aggressive, with a high recurrence rate.
I trained as a therapist, using NLP and coaching, and time after time I heard that gratitude and fear cannot be felt at the same time. So I have trained myself to start and end every day ‘Thinking and Thanking’
A bit like saying your prayers, I focus on just 3 things that I am grateful for. It could be a big thing, like my health and my family. It could be a small thing like I enjoyed my meal. But repeating Thank You – Thank You – Thank You – has erased my fear of cancer returning.
I now help other women to rebuild their lives after cancer, and I am so grateful for all of my life experiences that have made me so grateful for my life.
What are you grateful for today?
